Security and Employee Multicompany

When you use Multicompany, you must configure the Security roles to allow access to multiple companies in the database.

Use Configuration > Security > Roles to establish an employee role's access rights to the Multicompany feature.

The Access Rights tab of the Roles form lists the companies that are available for the role. Use this tab to specify the individual companies that the role can access. You can also select Full access to all companies to enable access to all companies automatically for the role.

A role must also be associated with a particular company to have the privilege to associate an employee record with that company.

Security access to companies also impacts Vision Time and Expense administration. If you are using Time and Expense, each employee is assigned an Administration Level on the Time and the Expense Tabs of the Employee Info Center. This level impacts the employee's ability to perform certain functions within the Time and the Expense applications, and is static, regardless of the number of companies the employee is associated with. If the Level is set to Group, Company, or System, and the employee's role has access rights to the company on the Access Rights tab in Security, the employee can perform administrative functions (such as approvals) for a company even if they are not associated with the company.

There are also security access right implications for the Vision Transaction Center and companies. On the Accounting tab of Role Security, the Transaction Type grid allows you to specify the types of transactions and their functionality (entry, list, posting, etc.) for each specific role. You can also select the active company for each transaction type, or apply all active companies for each roll.
