Vision OLAP Data Cubes

Vision Analysis Cubes and Microsoft SQL Server use OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) technology to provide Vision reporting databases—data cubes, which are subsets of the Vision transactional database.

In Microsoft Excel 2007, you connect to a Vision OLAP data cube (external data source) and display the Vision OLAP data in a PivotTable report.

The Analysis Cubes application provides you with the following Vision data cubes to create Vision custom reports:

  • Project OLAP Data Cube — For reports with project, labor, expense, billed, plan, accounts receivable, and time analysis data.

  • General Ledger OLAP Data Cube — For reports with general ledger and financial information.

    To use all of the dimensions and measures in Analysis Cubes, you must have Microsoft SQL Server™ Enterprise Edition installed. If you are using the Standard Edition, not all dimensions and measures are included in the data cubes.
  • Valid Dimension and Measure Combinations on Reports
    When you add dimensions and measures to a custom report, you must select a combination of valid dimensions and measures that have a relationship with each other. If you include dimensions and measures that have no relationship with each other, you see invalid data on the report.
  • Measures that Can Be Displayed in a Presentation Currency
    You can combine some measures with the presentation currency dimension to display monetary amounts in presentation currencies.
  • Project OLAP Data Cube
    Project OLAP data cubes consist of dimensions and measures.
  • General Ledger Data Cube
    General Ledger OLAP data cubes consist of dimensions and measures. These measures and dimensions display in the Excel 2007 PivotTable Field List in an Excel worksheet when you connect to the General Ledger data cube to create a Vision custom report.

    You can reapply user-defined labels.
