Define the Default Currency Format for a Report
To accommodate companies located or doing business in countries other than the United States, Vision provides default formats for currency amounts on reports based on your settings in Regional and Language Options in Microsoft Windows. You can then modify the default formats for individual reports and for individual report columns.
To review or change your settings for Windows, display the Windows Control Panel and double-click
Regional and Language Options.
The Layout tab on the Options dialog box for a report displays the default currency format for the report. That format, in turn, becomes the default format for each currency field on the report. You can modify the default format on the Layout tab, and you can modify the format for individual columns on the Columns tab.
To define the default currency format for a report, complete the following steps:
- Click the Layout tab on the Options dialog box. The Currency field in the Default Formats group box displays the current default currency format.
- If you want to change the default currency format to that for another culture, select the Override regional settings check box and select the culture from the drop-down list in the Override regional settings field. If you select a different culture, Vision automatically displays the default formats associated with that culture in the Number, Currency, and Date fields.
- In the Currency field, click to open the Format Currency dialog box.
- If you want to use the default number of decimal places, select Use default number of decimal places in the Other options group box.
- If you want to use a different number of decimal places, clear that check box, and select or enter the number of decimal places in Decimal places. In some cases, Vision uses a fixed number of decimal places for a column. If you specify a different number, it has no effect on the format of amounts in those columns.
- For the Digit grouping option, select either no grouping or the default grouping for the applicable culture. For example, if the culture for the report displayed in the Override regional settings field on the Layout tab is English (United States), this option is 123,456,789.
- In the Negative number field, specify how you want the report to indicate negative amounts.
- In the Zero number field, specify how you want the report to indicate zero amounts.
- If you use the Multicurrency feature, use the Display option in the Currency symbol group box to select an option for displaying currency symbols or currency codes with amounts.
- In the Location field in the Currency symbol group box, indicate where to display the currency symbol or currency code.
- Click OK to return to the Options dialog box.
- After you set all report options, click Apply.
