Example - Enter Task Dates

Task dates in Project Planning roll up to higher levels.

Assume you have a basic plan where task dates are rolled into the top level task. The dates for the Resource Allocation and Preliminary Design tasks are the same as the top level Requirements Analysis task.

When you create dependencies between tasks, their dates reflect the dependent relationship. For example, if you set the Preliminary Design Meeting task as the predecessor to the Resource Allocation Meeting task, the dates are divided in the Gantt display. In addition, their overall end date matches that of the top level Requirements Analysis task.

If the end date for the Preliminary Design Meeting is changed and pushed out, then Vision automatically changes (pushes out) the dates for the successor task, Resource Allocation Meeting. Vision also recalculates the finish date for the top level task, Requirements Analysis.
