Activities Overview

A key component of lead follow-up, opportunity tracking, and project management is the ability to schedule activities and link those activities to your client, contact, lead, firm, marketing campaign, employee, opportunity, and project records. Your activities can include phone calls, meetings, tasks, and other important business functions.

You must use the Vision Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application to access the Activity Calendar, the Activity Manager, and the activity scheduling tools in the Info Center. If you use the Vision Resource Planning application without CRM, you have access to the Activity Calendar only.

You can view activities via Activities, Calendar, and many other hubs. The Calendar application displays only phone calls, meeting, tasks, and timesheets. The Activities Hub shares activity data with many other hubs, including Dashboard, Contacts (both qualified and leads), Firms (client and vendor), Projects, Opportunities, Marketing Campaigns, Employees, and your user defined hubs. When you add, modify, or delete activity information in any one of these hubs, your modifications are immediately available in the other hubs.

The exceptions to sharing are as follows:

  • The Activity Calendar displays only phone calls, meetings, and tasks. To view other types of activities, you must use the Activity Manager, Info Center, or Dashboard.
  • Project Planning tasks display only on the Activity Calendar. The tasks do not display on the Activity Manager, the Dashboard, or in the Info Center.

Connect for Microsoft Outlook is an optional Vision module that makes it possible for you to manage Vision clients, contacts, vendors, and opportunities, all from Microsoft Outlook. Connect for Microsoft Outlook does not replace the Client, Contact, Vendor, or Opportunity Info Centers. You use it in addition to the Info Centers, to access and manage Vision Info Center records from either application.

In addition, you can use the Download Microsoft Integration utility to download files that allow you to share activity data between Vision and Microsoft Outlook.

    Use the Activity Manager to access all completed or pending activities for which you have security access. You can schedule, copy, delete, modify, and review your client, contact, lead, marketing campaign, employee, opportunity, and project activities.

    Use Activity reports to review information about your scheduled activities, including dates, times, attendees, and associated clients, contacts, opportunities, and projects.
  • Managing Activities in the Info Center
    You can manage activities from the Client, Contact, Employee, Lead, Marketing Campaign, Opportunity, and Project Info Centers.
