Data Export Reports Overview

Vision Reporting includes a set of Data Export reports that give you the option to print or download to a file virtually all data in a general area of Vision.

For example, the Client Export report gives you access to the data stored in the Client Info Center. You preview, print, or download Data Export reports the same way you do other types of Vision reports.

The intended use of the Data Export reports is to download data into Excel spreadsheets for auditing, custom reporting, and analysis purposes. You can select up to 100 columns for a data export report. Up to 15 of the columns can be user-defined columns.

Standard reports, with sorting and grouping levels and multiple levels of headings, do not always download cleanly into a spreadsheet format. To overcome that problem, the Data Export reports display all data in a simple columns-and-rows format. The reports have a single row of column headings but no report title or other report header information.

Limitations

These are simple reports with a specialized purpose. Because of that, they have the following limitations:

  • Limited filtering — You have the same options for selecting records for the report in the Lookup dialog box as you do for other reports, but you have no other options for controlling the records that Vision includes on the report. The Options dialog boxes have only the Columns tab for selecting the data that the report displays in each row.
  • Limited security — If you give a user access to a Data Export report, that user can generate a report that contains any or all of the columns available for that type of report. Vision does not enforce other access restrictions (to labor cost information, for example) for these reports.

    Use the General Ledger Export report to download general ledger data to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file or other file format.
  • Lead Export
    Use the Lead Export report to download lead data to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file or other file format.
  • Marketing Campaign Export
    Use the Marketing Campaign Export report to download marketing campaign data to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file or other file format.
  • Opportunity Export
    Use the Opportunity Export report to download opportunity data to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file or other file format.
  • Payroll Export
    If your firm uses Vision Payroll, use the Payroll Export report to download payroll data to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file or other file format. If your firm does not have Vision Payroll, this report is not available.
  • Project Expense Export
    Use the Project Expense Export report to download project expense data to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file or other file format. This report includes expenses other than labor expenses.
  • Project Labor Export
    Use the Project Labor Export report to download project labor data to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file or other file format. This report only includes project labor.
  • Project List Export
    Use the Project List Export report to download project data to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file or other file format.
  • Project Summary Export
    Use the Project Summary Export report to download project summary data to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file or other file format.
  • Vendor List Export
    Use the Vendor List Export report to download vendor data to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file or other file format.
