Import Bank Transactions into Vision

You import transactions from your bank statement into a statement in Vision using the Bank Reconciliation application.

You import transactions for banks that you set up in Vision. You can import bank transactions from a text file, such as a .txt or .csv file.
Prerequisites: Before you can import transactions, you must:
  • Set up a bank in Configuration > Accounting > Banks.

This includes completing the configuration on the Import tab of Bank Codes form. You specify the data (fields) to import from the file and the formatting of data so that Vision can properly receive the bank statement data.

  • Obtain the file that contains bank transaction data from your bank. Many banks allow you to download the information from a secure bank website. You must convert it to a file format that matches the import file configuration that you set up in Vision.
  • Remove data from the import file that you do not want to import in Vision. If there is data in the import file that do not match pre-defined fields in Vision, define these fields on the Import tab of Bank Codes form.
  • Create a bank statement in Accounting > Bank Reconciliation in which to import bank transactions.

To import transactions from a bank statement, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Vision Navigation menu, click Accounting > Bank Reconciliation.
  2. On the Bank Statement Selection dialog box, enter the information to create a new statement, or select an in-progress statement that you previously started and click Select.
  3. On the Bank Statement Reconciliation form toolbar, click Import > Import Bank Transactions.
  4. If you previously imported transactions for a statement and a dialog box asks you to confirm the overwriting, click Yes to proceed.

  6. On the Open dialog box, select the text file to import, and click Open.
