Example of User-Defined Sections for Reports
User-defined sections are useful when you want to combine column types.
For example, if you want to combine standard columns and grid columns in the same report, you set up a user-defined section for the standard columns and another section for the grid columns, and then assign the columns of each type to the appropriate section.
You cannot mix grid columns with vertical (non-grid) columns in a single section.
You cannot mix grid columns from different grids in the same section. Use the Type column to determine the grid to which a column belongs.
Example
You select the following columns for your user-defined section:
- Full Name: Section = Section 1. Section Column = 1.
- Social Security #: Section = Section 1. Section Column = 1.
- Employee Number: Section = Section 1. Section Column = 2.
On the report, the result would be similar to the following:
Full Name Mr. William Richard Apple Employee Number 10001
Social Security # 031-50-7511
