Add Phases to a Fee Estimate
Phases are the different components of a service profile that provide the foundation for how the fee is determined.
You can assign a percent of fee to each service phase, and then build your fee estimate by choosing the service phases that apply to each service profile. The assigned fee bands determine the firm's fee and then spread it over the selected phases based on the percent of fee.
After you establish your fee on the Functional Group grid, you can create the phases that are associated with the project.
If you use the Create Project from Fee Estimate option in the Project Info Center, a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is automatically created for the project. The WBS is based on the phases and functional groups that are selected for the service profile, as well as the WBS mapping that is configured in .
To add phases to a fee estimate, complete the following steps:
- On the Fee Estimate form, select a project record.
- Use the Service Profile drop-down list to select the service profile that you want to apply to the project fee estimate.
- On the Functional Groups grid, enter the fee basis by functional group to calculate or define the fee.
- On the Functional Groups grid, click Create Phases Grid. Vision displays a Select Phases dialog box that lists the phases that are associated with the selected service profile. On this dialog box, you can select one or more phases that you want to assign to the fee estimate. When you click OK, Vision generates the Phases grid and automatically populates it with the selected phases and their associated percentages. The Phases grid displays a phase for each functional group that is entered in the Functional Groups grid. It also creates a row for each selected phase and column that is associated with each functional group.
- On the Phases grid, enter the functional group's percent complete for each phase. Vision automatically calculates the fee earned and the total fee for the each phase entered on this grid. These amounts are summed and display in the Fee field in the Fee Estimate summary.
