Modify the Format for a Number Column

The Layout tab in the Options dialog box for a report displays the default non-currency number format for the report. That format is the default format for each non-currency numeric field on the report. On the Columns tab of the Options dialog box, you can modify the format for individual columns.

For the Key Financial Metrics report, you can define metric formats for individual metrics on the Metrics tab in the same way that you do for columns on the Columns tab for other Vision reports.

To modify the format for a non-currency number column, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Columns tab in the Options dialog box.

The Format grid column for the report column displays the current format.

  2. Click the Format grid column for the report column and click to open the Format Number dialog box.
  3. In Type, indicate if you want the default to be a number or a percentage.
  4. If you want to use the default number of decimal places, select Use default number of decimal places in the Other options group box.
  5. If you want to use a different number of decimal places, clear that check box, and select or enter the number of decimal places in Decimal places. In some cases, Vision uses a fixed number of decimal places for a column. If you specify a different number, it has no effect on the format of numbers in those columns.
  6. In the Digital grouping field, select either no grouping or the default grouping for the applicable culture. For example, if the culture for the report displayed in the Override regional settings field on the Layout tab is English (United States), this option is 123,456,789.
  7. In the Negative number field, specify how you want the report to indicate negative numbers.
  8. In the Zero number field, specify how you want the report to indicate zero numbers.
  9. Click OK to return to the Options dialog box. The Format grid column displays the modified format.
  10. After you set all report options, click Apply.
