Benefit Hours Dialog Box

Use the Benefit Hours dialog box to review hours accrued and taken for sick leave, vacation, holiday time, and other benefit accrual codes.

Location

To display the dialog box, complete the following steps:

From the Vision Navigation menu, do either of the following:
  • Click Time & Expense > Timesheet.

    Open a timesheet for which you want to view benefit hours, and on the Timesheet toolbar, click Show > Benefit Hours.

  • Click Time & Expense > Absence Requests.

    On the Absence Requests form, click the Benefit Hours button.

Benefit Hours Grid

Field Description
Benefit Hours Drop-down

Click the drop-down arrow on a grid header to complete any of the following actions:

  • To print grid data, click Print. On the Print Preview form, click File > Print to send the grid data to your default printer.
  • To export grid data to an Excel spreadsheet, click Export to Excel. When Microsoft Excel opens, use its features to modify, print, or email the grid data, or to save the spreadsheet file locally.
  • To turn on grouping for a grid, click Enable Grouping. When a field displays with the instruction: "Drag a column header here to group by that column," drag and drop column headers into the field, in the sequence that you want them to display.

Not all options are available on all grids.

Description This field displays the name of the benefit accrual, such as vacation or sick leave.
Starting Balance This field displays the total hours the employee had accrued, but not taken, at the beginning of the current year.
Current Year Earned This field displays the total number of hours the employee has earned, year-to-date.
Current Year Taken This field displays the total number of hours the employee has used, year-to-date.
Unposted Time This field displays the total benefit hours on employee timesheets that are being charged, but have not yet been posted. This applies only to timesheets entered from the Time and Expense module, not to those entered from Transaction Entry in the Transaction Center.
Current Balance This field displays the total number of earned hours remaining (earned minus taken), year-to-date.
Request Absence This button displays when you open the Benefit Hours dialog box from a timesheet if you have a benefit accrual code that has been configured for absence request approvals. This configuration is on the Benefit Accrual Setup tab in Configuration > Accounting > Time Analysis.

Click this button to open the Request Absence dialog box, and then enter and submit an absence request to be approved. This provides you with another way to enter and submit absence requests for vacation, sick leave, and so on, in addition to entering them in the Absence Request application in Time & Expense > Absence Requests.

The Request Absence button does not display on the Benefit Hours dialog box when you open the Benefit Hours dialog box by clicking the Benefit Hours button on the Request Absence dialog box.

OK Click this button to return to the Timesheet form.
