Add a Phase to a Service Profile
You can add one or more phases to a service profile. Phases are the service profile components that provide the foundation for how the fee is broken down. These phases become the default phases that are available for selection when creating the fee estimate.
When you create a fee estimate in the Opportunity Info Center and in the ProjectFee Estimate application in Accounting, you can select all phases, or a subset of phases, to assign to the fee estimate. You can enter a standard percent of fee for each phase.
If you are using the German Scale of Fees feature with Vision Fee Estimates, the phases are pre-populated based on the German scale requirements. You cannot add phases for these system-defined service profiles.
To add a phase to a service profile:
- From the Vision Navigation menu, click .
- Click the Service Phases tab.
- On the grid toolbar, click Insert.
-
Enter the phase's identification number and description.
This information displays in the
Phase drop-down list when a fee estimate is created. Phases can be used as the basis to create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) when a new
project is created from a fee estimate. If you use the
in the
Project Info Center, any phases assigned to the fee estimate's service profile are automatically applied to build the
project's associated WBS if phases are defined as part of the WBS mapping within the Opportunity settings. This is based on the phases and columns that display on the Phases grid for the fee estimate.
If the phase is part of the WBS mapping, it is important that the number of characters that is defined for the phase is the same as the mapped WBS level. For example, if a phase is mapped to WBS 2, you should enter the same number of characters in your phase codes as the WBS 2 level.
- Enter a standard percent of fee for the phase. Because the fee estimate may be comprised of multiple phases, the sum of the percentages of all phases listed on the Service Profiles grid typically equals 100 (but this is not required).
- Click Save.
