Measures Tab of Analysis Cubes Configuration Form

Use the grid on the Measures tab to select the fields from your Vision database to populate the Vision data cubes. You must select at least one measure to populate the data cubes. The measures that you select display in the Microsoft Excel PivotTable List when you create custom reports in Excel.

Initially, all the Vision measure fields listed on this tab are selected by default to populate the data cubes. You must clear the Select check box for the measure fields that you do not want to populate the Vision data cubes.

Field Description
Cube From the drop-down list, select the data cube (Project or General Ledger) for which you want to select or deselect measure fields.
Standard Measures Drop-Down

Click the drop-down arrow on a grid header to complete any of the following actions:

  • To print grid data, click Print. On the Print Preview form, click File > Print to send the grid data to your default printer.
  • To export grid data to an Excel spreadsheet, click Export to Excel. When Microsoft Excel opens, use its features to modify, print, or email the grid data, or to save the spreadsheet file locally.
  • To turn on grouping for a grid, click Enable Grouping. When a field displays with the instruction: "Drag a column header here to group by that column," drag and drop column headers into the field, in the sequence that you want them to display.

Not all options are available on all grids.

Select Use this option on the grid toolbar to select the check box in the Select column for multiple measures at one time.
Deselect Use this option on the grid toolbar to clear the check box in the Select column for multiple measures at one time.
Select All Click this option on the grid toolbar to select the check box in the Select column for all measures in the grid.
Deselect All Click this option on the grid toolbar to clear the check box in the Select column for all measures in the grid. This allows you to select measures from scratch with a completely cleared list.

By default, this check box is selected for all measures when you open the Measures tab for the first time. Clear the check box for the measures that you do not want to populate the Vision data cubes.

There are several ways to clear the selected check boxes:

  • Click the check box in a measure's row to clear the check box for individual measures, one at a time.

  • To clear the check box for a group of adjoining or non-adjoining measures in the grid all at once, use the Deselect option on the grid toolbar. See the Deselect description above for information on how it works.

  • To clear the check box for all the measures in the grid at once, click the Deselect All option on the grid toolbar.

The Select check box cell background color is shaded for the measure group and folder names that you cannot deselect.

There are several ways to select the check box for a measure:

  • Click the check box in a measure's row to select individual measures one at a time.

  • To select the check box for a group of adjoining or non-adjoining measures in the grid all at once, use the Select option on the grid toolbar. See the Select description above for information on how it works.

  • To select the check box for all the measures in the grid at once, click the Select All option on the grid toolbar.

Group

This column displays the group to which a measure belongs. You cannot modify a measure's group.

Measures are organized and displayed by group in the Microsoft Excel PivotTable list. For example, billed measures are in the Billed group in the PivotTable list for the Project data cube.

If all of the measures in a group are unselected, the group does not display at all in the Excel PivotTable List.

The measures that display at the beginning of the Measures grid with no group name in the Group column are the measures from the Values measure group.

Folder

This column displays the folder within the group to which a measure belongs. You cannot modify the folder name.

Measures are organized and displayed by group and folder in the Microsoft Excel PivotTable list. For example, the Billed measures group contains a Billed By Category folder, a Billed By Category - Multicurrency folder, and a Multicurrency folder.

If all of the measures in a folder are unselected, the folder does not display at all in the Excel PivotTable List.

Default Field Name This column displays the default field label for a field (measure), which you cannot modify. The default field label is entered on the Labels tab in General System Settings. Any field name changes that you make in Vision Designer (Screen Designer) do not display in the data cubes.
