Specify whether or not to use leading zeros, set the account number length, and specify the delimiter symbol and position.
Field | Description |
Display Leading Zeros
|
Select this option if you want
Vision to add leading zeros to the number when you enter an incomplete number in any Account field in the database. For example, if you enter 1.00 and your account number length is seven characters (including the delimiter),
Vision adds leading zeros to the account number (for example, 00001.00).
This option controls the display of the account numbers on forms and reports, as well as whether or not the account number must be a fixed length.
Do not select this option if you want
Vision to leave the account number as entered. In this case, you can enter up to 12 alphanumeric characters for the account number when entering new account numbers in Account Info Center.
If you do not show leading zeros after you have already established an account number length with delimiters in specific position(s), the length and delimiter format will be removed. For example, the account number 0001.00 would become 1.00.
Delimiters are stored directly in the tables in the databases (with the value). When leading zeros are no longer used, the account number length is no longer a fixed value and the delimiter position is no longer valid.
|
Account Length
|
Enter the desired account number length, between 1 and 13 numbers. The current length of the account number appears for reference.
If you decide to decrease the length of the number, first ensure that duplicate account numbers will not be created during the conversion (the conversion will test for this).
|
Add/Remove from Left/Right
|
If you want to add or remove characters from an account number, you can use this feature to determine whether the characters are added to or removed from the left or right side of the number.
For example, if you increase the account number length from 5 to 7, you can then use this feature to add those two numbers to the left of the number: 12345 becomes 0012345.
Conversely, if you decrease the account number length from 7 to 5, you can then use this feature to remove those two numbers to the right of the number: 1234567 becomes 12345.
Remember that the delimiter is counted as part of the account number length.
|
Account Delimiter
|
Enter the delimiter for your account numbers. The current delimiter for your account number displays for reference.
A delimiter must be a special character, such as a period (.) or a comma (,); not 0 to 9, A to Z, or |.
Delimiters are counted as part of the account number length. For example, if the account length is 6, the account delimiter is a period (.), and the account delimiter position is 4, the account number appears as 456.78.
|
Account Delimiter Position
|
This value is required if you entered a delimiter in the
Account Delimiter field. Enter the delimiter position for your account numbers. The position must be 1 less than the length of the field.
The current delimiter position for your account number appears for reference.
