Backup Database Overview

Use the Backup Database utility to make a full backup of the Vision database.

You must have the proper security access to use this utility.

If you use the Deltek First Vision Essentials cloud version of Vision, this utility may not be available.

You may want to back up your database:

• Before you import data
• Before you make major changes to the database

The only requirement is that the SQL Server backup device must already exist. Ask your SQL Server database administrator to create this device. The SQL Server backup device can hold one or more database backups.

This utility is not a substitute for a comprehensive backup plan. See the Deltek Vision Technical Installation Guide for more information about backup plans.

If you use the Vision Transaction Document Management feature and you back up your Vision database, the FILESTREAM database is also backed up. See the Deltek Vision Advanced Technical Administration Guide for more information.
