Attach a Document to a Project Record
You can upload a new document and attach it to a hub record if your system administrator has specified the appropriate settings and the file type is an approved file type.
You can upload various file types, such as image files, Microsoft document files, word processing files, drawing files, spreadsheets, and so on. When you upload a document, a copy of the file is stored in
Vision.
Prerequisites: You must have access rights to the record to attach a file or document.
To attach a file to a record:
- On the Files tab in a hub, select a record.
-
On the toolbar of the Files grid, click
Upload and use the Browse dialog box to find and select the document that you want to attach to the record.
The document's file name displays in the Files grid.
When you upload a document, a copy of the file is stored in Vision. If your system administrator specifies a maximum allowable file size on the Document Management tab of the General System Settings form (
), an error message displays if the uploaded file exceeds the size limit. - In the Category field, select a category for the attached file. Categories allow you to classify files by types and provide a way to sort files. Your system administrator defines the categories.
- If necessary, change the text in the Description field to a more meaningful description of the document.
-
Select one of the following options:
Option Description View Select a file in the Files grid and click to open the attached document in its original form/viewer. For example, if you open a PDF file, it opens in your local PDF viewer. Delete Select a file in the Files grid and click to delete it from the grid. Deleting an attachment also removes it from the FILESTREAM database. - Click Save.
