Create a Custom View for a Performance Dashboard

You can create a custom view of a performance dashboard so you can display that view quickly in the future or share it with others.

Whether or not you can create views that are only available to you depends on the type of user authentication set up for Tableau Server. If Tableau Server uses Active Directory authentication, custom views are private by default but can be shared with others who access the dashboard. If Tableau Server uses Local (Tableau) authentication, all custom views are available to, and can be edited or deleted by, anyone who accesses the dashboard. With Local (Tableau) authentication, you cannot create private custom views.

To create a custom view for a dashboard, complete the following steps:

1. Interact with the dashboard to create the view of the data that you want.
2. Click either Remember my changes or the name of the current view, whichever is displayed in the lower left corner of the dashboard.
3. Enter a name for the new view.
4. Click Remember.
