Map the Plan to a To-Be-Created Project
When you map a plan to a new project record in the Project Info Center, you can copy the plan's existing mapped Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) into a project record.
To map a plan to a project record that is not yet created, complete the following steps:
- From the Vision Navigation menu, click .
- On the Project Planning form, create the plan record.
- Click the Labor tab.
- Insert a new task on the Labor grid.
- From the drop-down list for the WBS Level field, select one of these WBS element types for the top-level element in your WBS.
-
Make a corresponding entry for the WBS element in the
Project,
Phase,
Task, or
Labor Code field, as appropriate.
Every WBS element must contain an identifier, or the plan will not map correctly to the project. When mapping to a project that is not yet created, you must enter a unique identifier that does not exist in the Vision database. Vision prompts you with the following message:
No matching records on file for <project number>. Do you want to create new mapping for this plan?
Click Yes to confirm creation of a new mapping structure for the plan.
- Repeat steps 4 through 6 as necessary to map the project, phases, tasks, and labor codes (if any) for your plan.
-
Create resource assignments and simultaneously map the assignments to employee records in the Info Center.
You must do this if you want actual hours from employee timesheets passed into the plan's job-to-date labor hours and amounts fields.
- Click Save.
