Contents of the Manage Ceridian Configuration Screen

Use the fields and options to configure the Manage Ceridian Configuration screen.

Field Description
Ceridian Configuration ID

Enter a unique identifier for this Ceridian configuration.

Description

Enter a description to associate with the configuration ID. This description displays on all other screens and reports in the Ceridian Timesheet Interface.

Ceridian Company ID

If you are a Ceridian Signature user, enter the company ID assigned by Ceridian.

If you are a Ceridian Source 500 series user, enter the company ID assigned by Ceridian.

Ceridian Sub-Company ID

Enter the optional sub-company ID assigned by Ceridian.

Sample Ceridian ID

As you define each segment in the table window, this field displays an approximation of what the Ceridian employee ID looks like. Constant values are displayed as they were entered, while the characters "c" (Location), "e" (Employee ID), "o" (Home Organization), and "s" (Social Security Number) represent one character each in a Segment Source derived from the locator code, employee id, home organization, and social security number, respectively.

For example, suppose that the Ceridian Employee ID is composed of the following segments: the first through third characters from the employee ID, the fourth through sixth characters from the locator code, the seventh through ninth characters from the social security number field, and the tenth character composed of the constant character "X." This field displays eeecccsssX.

Note:

The following applies only to Ceridian Source 500 series users: Suppose that the Ceridian Employee ID is composed of the following segments: the first through sixth characters are composed of six spaces and the seventh through tenth characters from the employee ID. This field displays "      eeee" (six spaces precede the eeee).

Total Ceridian ID Length

As you enter each Segment Length in the table window, the current total length of all segments in the Employee ID format is displayed in this field.

Table Window

Use this table window to establish the Ceridian Employee ID field that is used when downloading timesheet information. The Employee ID field transmitted to Ceridian is dynamically built during the download process, based upon the setup parameters entered in this table.

Enter information in this table before exporting timesheet data in the Export Timesheets to Ceridian screen.

The Export Timesheets to Ceridian process uses the specified format to build the Ceridian employee IDs that populate the timesheet export file.

The Ceridian Employee ID field is a fixed-length field of 10 characters. Each line in this table represents one segment in the employee ID format, sequentially numbered left to right from 1 to 10. You can enter one segment 10 characters in length, 10 segments of one character each, or any combination of segments and segment lengths between these limits. To initialize this table, click .

If you are using a Ceridian Source 500 series product, you must populate the first six characters of the Ceridian Employee ID with spaces. To achieve this, do the following: in the first row (Sequence 1) of the table, select Constant value from the Segment Source drop-down list, enter a Segment Length of 6, and a Pad Character/Constant Value of six spaces. The last four characters of the Ceridian employee ID are based on the additional rows you enter in the table.

Field Description
Sequence

This non-editable field displays the sequential number of each employee ID segment. The first segment in an employee ID format is segment number 1, the next segment is segment number 2, etc. Segment lines remain in the order in which they are entered. You can enter up to 10 segment lines for a given configuration.

Segment Source

From the drop-down list, select the data source for this employee ID segment. This is a required column.

  • Constant value: This segment has a fixed, constant value that does not change from employee to employee.
  • Employee ID: This segment is derived from the employee ID in the Employee (EMPL) table.
  • Home Organization: This segment is derived from the employee's home organization as of the timesheet date. When a timesheet is entered in Deltek Costpoint, Costpoint automatically looks up the current home organization for an employee and stores this value in the Timesheet Header (TS_HDR) table.
  • Locator Code: This segment is derived from the employee's locator code in the Employee table.
  • Social Security Number: This segment is derived from the employee's social security number in the Employee table.

If you are a Ceridian Source 500 series user, the first row (Sequence 1) in the table must have a Segment Source value of Constant value, a Segment Length of 6, and a Pad Character/Constant Value of six spaces.

Starting Position

If you selected Constant value in the Segment Source column, enter 1. For all other segment sources, enter the starting position of the first character to be obtained from the data source field. For example, if the current ID segment is derived from the third through sixth characters in the social security number, enter a 3 in the Starting Position field.

Segment Length

Enter the character length of this employee ID segment in this column. For example, if the current ID segment is derived from the third through sixth characters in the social security number, enter 4 in the Segment Length field. This is a required column.

If you enter an impossible combination of Starting Position and Segment Length, Costpoint displays an error message. For example, the Locator Code field in the Employee table is six characters in length. If you enter a Starting Position of 3 and a Segment Length of 5, Costpoint displays an error message.

The total length of all segments must add up to 10 characters before you can save an employee ID format. As you enter each segment length, the current total length of all segments is displayed in the Total Ceridian ID Length field.

If you are a Ceridian Source 500 series user, the first row (Sequence 1) in the table must have a Segment Source value of Constant value and a Segment Length of 6.

Justification

If you selected Constant value in the Segment Source column, leave this column blank. For all other segment sources, use the drop-down list in this column to select a Left or Right field justification. If a value from a segment source is shorter than the defined Segment Length, a left-justified field is padded on the right with the character specified in the Segment Padding column until the segment is the proper length. A right-justified field is padded on the left until the field's length equals the defined Segment Length.

Segment Padding

If you selected Constant value in the Segment Source column, leave this column blank. For all other segment sources, use this drop-down list to select the character you want to use to pad the field. Options are:

  • Constant: To pad a field with any character other than 0 or a space, select Constant and enter the character to be used in the Pad Character/Constant Value column.
  • Spaces: Select this option to pad a field with spaces.
  • Zeroes: Select this option to pad a field with zeroes.
Pad Character/Constant Value

If you selected Constant value in the Segment Source column, enter the constant string value to be used for this ID segment. This string of characters is the same for all employees and timesheets. If the length of the value entered in this column does not equal the number entered in the Segment Length column, the number in Segment Length is changed to the correct value. If you enter a value in this field and then change the number in the Segment Length field, the string value in this column is either padded with spaces or truncated so that its character length equals the value in Segment Length.

If you selected Constant in the Segment Padding column, enter a character to pad out short fields derived from Costpoint data fields. For example, to pad out a field with Xs, enter X in this column.
