Manage Resource Group Types

Use this screen to establish a logical grouping of employees in an easy and efficient manner.

For example, you may have a group type called "Department." You could assign all groups that represent departments to that type.

Deltek Time & Expense uses group types to filter the list of groups displayed. You can use group types to restrict an employee to membership in only one group of a particular type. Then, when you add the employee to a group of that type, he or she is automatically removed from any other group of that type.

You should set up the employee group types before you set up employee groups.

Employee Group Type Fields

Field Description
Group Type Code

Enter a 10-character, uppercase alphanumeric employee group type code. Each employee Group Type Code must be unique. Although this code does not display in other screens, you should assign a meaningful code because this field can be used in user-defined reports/inquiries.

Description

Enter an employee group type description of up to 30 characters. Because they are used in drop-down list and as column headings for reports/inquiries, make descriptions as short as possible and properly capitalized.  Each employee group type Description must be unique.

Restrict Occurrence The download from Costpoint will create the following Resource Group Types if they do not already exist:
  • DELTEKS – for a supervisor group type.
  • DELTEKM – for a manager group type.
  • DELTEKO# – for organizational group types where # equals the level number of the organization.
  • DELTEKC – for a group type for company.

When Restrict Occurrence is selected and you add an employee to a new Employee Group in the Employee Groups screen, the employee is deleted from the original group.

Note: You cannot delete an employee group type if it is being used as a group type for an existing group.
