Federal Withholding Tab
Use this tab to enter your Form W-4 information.
This form complies with the redesigned Form W-4. Your employer will use the information in this tab to figure your withholding. If the system does not find any current records, the table will not display. Instead, the system will display an error message indicating that no current Federal Withholding information is on record.
1. Personal Information
Field | Description |

Home Address |
This non-editable row displays your home address (or mailing address if home and mailing addresses are the same). Note: The system displays a message if there is no address is on file.

Filing Status |
Use the drop-down list to select the filing status. This assists in determining the amount of tax withheld from your paycheck. The valid values are:
Note: The system displays an error message in the row if the system has you recorded as "Exempt" from paying taxes, it will display an error message in the row.
Warning: If you wish to change your status to
Exempt, see your Payroll Administrator.

Used for Virgin Islands | This check box indicates if the employee's home withholding state is Virgin Islands. This field is not editable. If the employee's home withholding state is Virgin Islands, the screen enables the following fields for the calculation of Virgin Islands tax withholding:

2. Multiple Jobs or Spouse Works
Select the check box in this section to indicate if Step 2 of W-4 table for the employee's filing status will be used for the federal withholding. If there are only two jobs total, you may select this check box. Do the same on form W-4 for the other job.
3. Claim Dependents
Use this section if your income will be $200,000 or less ($400,000 or less if married filing jointly).

Number of qualifying children under 17 | Enter the number of your qualifying children under 17. |
Number of other dependents | Enter the number of your other dependents. |
Other tax credits | Enter the amount of other tax credits. |
4. Other Adjustments
Field | Description |
---|---|
Other Income (not from jobs) | Enter the amount of other income if you want tax withheld for other income expected this year that will not have withholding. This may include interest, dividends, and retirement income. |
Deductions | If the employee expects to claim deductions other than the standard deduction and want to reduce their withholding, then the amount should be entered in this field. Use the Deductions Worksheet tab to calculate this amount. |
Extra Withholding | Enter any additional amount you want withheld each pay period. Use the Multiple Jobs Worksheet tab to calculate this amount. |
