Link to Accounts Subtask

Use this subtask of the Manage Organization Elements screen to set up valid accounts to which the organization can charge.

If you did not select the Validate Accounts for Organizations check box on the Configure General Ledger Settings screen, it is not necessary to link the accounts here, because it is done automatically for all existing accounts when the organization is saved.

Also, consider using the Mass Link Accounts/Organizations screen, which provides a streamlined way to select a group of account and organizations to be linked together at one time.

To access this subtask, first use Query to populate the Manage Organization Elements screen. You use the Link to Accounts subtask only to create new links for organizations. To delete an organization's link to an account or accounts, use the Link Accounts/Organizations screen.

You must set up accounts on the Manage Accounts screen before you can link them to organizations on this subtask.

Field Description
Account

Enter, or click to select, an account number. The name of the account displays in the adjacent field. You can only link organizations to detail accounts.

You can enter wildcards in the Account field to link many accounts simultaneously to the same organizational element. The wildcard search options are detailed in the Wildcard Options group box. If you use a wildcard option, enter at least one alphanumeric character on which to search. If Costpoint displays a "Zero rows created" message when you click the Link Accts button, make sure that you did not enter an invalid wildcard character.

Link Accts

After you select the accounts to which you want to link the organization, click the Link Accts button to create the account/organization links for the selected organization element.

You can view the account/organization combinations you create on the Link Accounts/Organizations screen. On that screen, you can also edit the Active flags and the starting and ending fiscal year and accounting period for the account/organization combinations.

Wildcard Options

This group box displays information on the ways you can use wildcards to link many accounts simultaneously to the same organizational element. Enter any of these options in the Account field.
