The Deltek for Professional Services® help system provides help for all application areas. You launch the help system from links in Deltek.

Each section of the help contains the help topics for a single application, such as hubs or utilities.

The help system provides the following types of topics:

Topic Type Purpose
Procedures Procedure topics provide step-by-step instructions for completing tasks.
Field Descriptions At the form and dialog box level, reference topics contain tables of field descriptions. These topics describe data entry requirements for each field and the effects of each option.
Concepts Concept topics explain the underlying concepts that drive Deltek various business processes.
Checklists Checklist topics provide lists of procedures that you must perform sequentially to complete complex processing functions, such as intercompany billing.
Overviews Overview topics introduce an application, feature, or process.

  • Hubs
    The hubs provide you with a set of tools, applications, and reports to help you manage all aspects of your business-related data. Use hubs to gather information about your projects, employees, opportunities, and more. Add new records, update records, and copy or delete records. Then use this information to streamline procedures, activities, and client interactions.
  • Resource Management
    The Resource Management applications support and enhance two key planning functions. In Resource View, it helps the resource manager understand future staffing needs, make sure that their employees are assigned to projects and fully utilized, determine if resources are scheduled correctly and workloads are balanced, and make hiring and layoff decisions. in Project View, it gives the project manager a complete view of staffing and schedules for their projects at any level of the work breakdown structure. They can also see actual job-to-date hours related to resource assignments as employees charge time to a project.
  • Billing
    The Billing application lets you bill labor, expenses, fees, and units in all industry-standard formats; process, modify, approve, accept, and print invoices; and generate billing-related reports.
  • Transaction Center
    Use the Transaction Center to enter and maintain data for transactions such as disbursements, expenses, invoices, and vouchers.
  • Accounting
    Use the Accounting application to track your firm’s day-to-day financial activity. You can also generate reports that help you assess project and firm-wide financial performance.
  • Human Resources
    In Human Resources you work with payroll information, set parameters for importing and exporting payroll data to third-party applications, and set options for processing accruals and adjustments for paid time off.
  • Purchasing
    Use the Purchasing application to keep electronic records of both internal and project-related procurement and receiving of services, materials, supplies, and capital items.
  • Asset Management
    Asset Management is an optional application that you use in conjunction with the Equipment hub to track and process depreciation or amortization for asset items that you capitalize.
  • Inventory
    Use the Inventory application to control and track the items marked as inventory.
  • Reporting
    Reporting offers you a wide range of reports that present information about all aspects of your data, including projects, firms, contacts, and employees.
  • Utilities
    Use the utilities in the Utilities application to perform maintenance tasks, data importing, key conversions, report and file administration, and other functions in your Deltek database.
  • Settings
    Use the Settings applications to specify your organization structure, password policies, Deltek users, and other basic information about how you want Deltek as a whole and each of its applications to function.
  • Data Dictionary
    The data dictionary provides information about all of the data tables, columns, and indexes in the database Deltek.
