Contents of the Add/Edit Opportunity Form (in Resource Management)

If the CRM application is not activated, use the fields and options on this form to enter or make changes to basic information for an opportunity. If the CRM application is activated, add and edit opportunities in the Opportunities hub.

Field Description
Save Opportunity Click this button to save your entries.
Delete To delete a previously saved opportunity, display it in the Edit Opportunity form and click this button.

This option is only available on the Edit Opportunity form. If you are adding a new opportunity and decide you want to discard the opportunity without saving it, click Cancel on the Add Opportunity toolbar.

Name Enter the name of the opportunity. The maximum length is 255 characters.
Opportunity ID

If you assign IDs to your opportunities, enter the ID for the opportunity.

Primary Client

Select the primary client for the opportunity.

If the client has not yet been added in Deltek, click + Add Client at the bottom of the selection list to display the Add Client dialog box and enter the client name.

Organization

If you are using organizations, click in this field to display the Edit Organization dialog box and select the organization within your firm that is responsible for the opportunity.

In the Edit Organization dialog box, expand the higher levels to display the lower levels of the structure. At the lowest level, click the row for the organization that you want to select.

You can search for organizations based on names, IDs, or organization structure elements that contain a specific sequence of characters.

Project Manager

Select the employee who is the project manager for the opportunity.

You can search based on a full or partial name, a first name - last name or preferred name - last name combination, or an email address.

Type

Select the type of opportunity (for example, Laboratories, Medical Facilities, Office Buildings).

Estimate Start

Enter or select the date on which you expect the work to start if you win the opportunity.

This date becomes the default plan start date for the opportunity plan.

Estimated Completion

Enter or select the date on which you expect the work to be completed if you win the opportunity.

This date becomes the default plan end date for the opportunity plan.

Stage

Select the pipeline stage to which the opportunity is currently assigned (for example, Lead, Proposal, Awarded, Lost).

Probability Click to select the probability of winning the contract (expressed as a percentage).
Status

Select the opportunity status: Active or Inactive.

Inactive opportunities are excluded from the ACTIVE and MINE standard opportunity searches, and you can choose to exclude them from custom searches that you add.

When you select Inactive for an opportunity that has resource assignments, Deltek displays a message that recommends that you either move those assignments to the project, if you were awarded the contract, or delete the assignments. That message includes a link that displays the opportunity's resource plan in Project View so you can move or delete the assignments.
