Upload a File to the Files Grid

Use the Files grid on the Files and Links tab to upload, view, and store documents related to the current record. Deltek attaches these documents to the record for which they were uploaded.

The Files grid supports various file types, such as image files, Microsoft document files, word processing files, drawing files, spreadsheets, and so on. When you upload a document, a copy of the file is stored in Deltek. You can upload and attach documents only if Deltek has been configured to allow you to attach documents and the file type is an approved file type.

The Files grid displays when FILESTREAM is enabled. Use this grid to upload, view, and store files that are related to the current record. Deltek attaches these files to the record for which they were uploaded. This grid supports various file types, such as image files, Microsoft document files, word processing files, drawing files, spreadsheets, and so on. When you upload a file, a copy of the file is stored in the FILESTREAM database. You cannot upload the following file types:

.APPLICATION .JSE .REG
.BAT .MSI .SCR
.CMD .MSP .VB
.COM .MSC .VBE
.CPL .PIF .VBS
.EXE .PS1 .WS
.GADGET .PS1XML .WSC
.HTA .PS2 .WSF
.INF .PS2XML .WSH
.JAR .PSC1
.JS .PSC2

If using the Projects hub and your firm uses multiple level Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), the top level of the WBS has the ability to view all files and links for the project and its lower levels. But the lower levels can only view the files and links for their level and below. In other words, the parent level can view the lower levels but the child levels cannot view the parent.

To add a file to the Files grid:

  1. Click +Upload File. The Browse dialog box displays.
  2. Use either of the following methods to select one or more files to upload:
    • Highlight to select the file(s) you want to upload and attach to the current record.
    • Use standard Windows functionality to drag and drop the file(s) from your desktop onto the grid.

When you upload a document, a copy of the file is stored in Deltek. If your system administrator specifies a maximum allowable file size on the Miscellaneous tab of Settings > General (desktop), an error message will display if the uploaded file exceeds the size limit.

  3. Click OK to save your changes.
