Enter Units in a Timesheet
You can enter units for a project on a daily basis. If you are an active employee in more than one company, you can only view and edit your time for your home company.
Prerequisites: Your access to this feature requires the following:
- Your security role must have access to timesheets as specified in in the desktop application.
- Enable Unit Entry must be Yes on the Options tab in .
- Allow Employee to charge Units in Timesheet must be selected on the Time tab of the Employees hub in the desktop application.
To enter units on a timesheet:
- In the Navigation pane, go to the My Stuff section and select Timesheet.
- If necessary, switch the Hours/Units toggle to Units. This adds the entry fields for units to the Timesheets form.
- If the timesheet displayed is not the one that you want, use the search field to search for and select the one that you want to update. For example, use the My Timesheets search filter to limit the search results to include only your own timesheets. If you select a timesheet and displays beside it, the timesheet is locked and you cannot make changes to it.

Select one of the following actions:
If you want to Do this Enter units for an existing row Click anywhere in that row to enable editing of its fields. Add a blank row so that you can enter units for a different project Click + Add Line below the grid or hover over the existing row, click at the end of the row, and select Insert. Create a new row by copying the project from an existing row Hover over the existing row, click at the end of the row, and select Copy. The new row displays below the row that you copied. Copy the projects for all rows in a different timesheet into the current timesheet Click and select the timesheet from which you want to copy rows. - In the Project field, use the Project/Phase/Task lookup to enter a project, phase, and task for the row. When you specify the project, the client name displays in the row.
- In the Unit Table field, enter the unit table that is associated with the unit to which you are charging time. Click in the field, and use the Unit Tables lookup to select a unit table. If the project that you entered in this row has a default unit table entered for it on the Accounting tab of the Projects hub in the desktop application, that unit table prefills in this field. The default unit table that is entered for the project at the lowest level of the work breakdown structure prefills in this field. You can select a different unit table as appropriate.
- In the Unit field, enter the number ID for the unit that you are charging time to for this project. You can select only units that are associated with the unit table that you entered in the Unit Table field.
- Click in the day/date column and click the arrow below the day/date field.

On the drop-down box, do the following:
- Enter the number of units in the Quantity field.
- Optionally, enter a description that applies to the units that you charged for the day for the project. You can enter a new description or use any description that was already entered on other cells in the same time period. To use a pre-defined description, click , and select the description from the drop-down list. The selected description displays in this field and you can edit it. Click to access the text editor to apply formatting to your description
- Repeat steps 4 through 9 for each day on which you want to enter units. The dark gray-shaded columns at the right side of the timesheets grid display the total units and the unit of measure that apply to each project row.

Select one of the following actions:
- Click to save the timesheet.
- Click to save and submit the timesheet in a single step.

If you changed the previously saved units for a timesheet row and the Revision Explanation dialog box displays when you try to save, select one of the following actions:
- Enter a reason for the revision in Explanation and click Save.
- Select a pre-defined revision explanation in Standard Explanations, optionally modify its text in Explanation, and click Save.
