Copy a Plan Structure for an Opportunity Plan
An alternative to setting up each of the levels in an opportunity plan structure one by one is to copy the plan structure from another opportunity or from a project, and then make any needed modifications to that structure.
When you have copied the plan structure and made any changes that you want, you can then begin making resource assignments for it in either Project View or Resource View.
To create a plan structure for an opportunity by copying the plan structure from another opportunity or a project:
- In the Navigation pane, go to the Resource Management section and click Opportunity Plan Structure.
-
Select the opportunity.
Result: The Plan Structure grid displays with the opportunity name as the top level of the plan structure.
- On the Actions menu, click Copy Plan Structure.
- In Structure to Copy on the Copy Plan Structure dialog box, select the opportunity or project from which you want to copy the plan structure.
- Click Copy. Result: The levels and level elements from the copied structure display below the top level of the plan structure in the Plan Structure grid.
-
Make any necessary modifications to the copied structure. You can do any of the following:
- Change element names.
- Click on a row to add a new element below that row.
- Click on a row to delete that element and any lower-level elements under it in the structure.
- Click or on a row to move that element up or down in the list of elements for that level.
- Click or on a row to move that element to the next higher level or next lower level in the structure.
If one of these options is disabled, that indicates that the action would create a structure that was not valid and thus is not allowed for that element row.
- If you want to ??????, select Include Plan in Utilization Calculations.
- To save the structure, click Save Plan Structure.
