Create
Phase
|
In the drop-down, select the method you want to use to create the
phase:
- Manually: The required fields are
Phase Number,
Name, and
Long Name.
- From
Project:
Project is the only required field. In this work flow, after the Add
Phase Dialog, you can choose to create multiple
phases within the Adjust
Project Structure dialog, so the
phase numbers, names, and long names default to the values in the existing
phases of the copied
project, with one exception: if the
phase number already exists in the
project to which the new
phase is being added, you must provide a unique
phase number before saving.
- From
Project Template:
Project Template is the only required field. In this work flow, after the Add
Phase Dialog, you can choose to create multiple
phases within the Adjust
Project Structure dialog, so the
phase numbers, names, and long names default to the values in the existing
phases of the
project template, with one exception: if the
phase number already exists in the
project to which the new
phase is being added, you must provide a unique
phase number before saving.

Click
Continue to add the
phase to the WBS. The work flow after this dialog depends on which method you selected to create the
phase:
- From
Project: The next step in the work flow is the Adjust
Project Structure Dialog, followed by the Edit
Project Structure Grid. The field values for
phases in these dialogs default to the field values in the copied
phases.
- From
Project Template: The next step in the work flow is the Adjust
Project Structure Dialog, followed by the Edit
Project Structure Grid. The field values for
phases in the these dialogs default to the field values in the copied
phases.
- Manually: The next step in the work flow is Add/Edit All Mode. The field values in Add/Edit All Mode are based on the field values at the
project level. In some cases (estimated completion date, for example), you can change the default value for the
phase. In others the
project values are displayed but can only be changed at the
project level.
