Select the
Follow Project Locale option to use the locale associated with the project, rather than employee-specific settings.
You enter a default project tax locale for each project, phase, or task on the Accounting tab of the Project Info Center. When the employee charges time to the project, phase, or task, he can use the default or select a different locale. Vision uses the locale associated with the posted timesheet to determine withholdings.
Vision looks to the level of the work breakdown structure (WBS) to which the employee charges time to determine the locale. If you want a project to use the same locale regardless of the WBS level, you can establish a
Payroll Tax Locale at the top (project) level, and select
None for this field at the lower levels. Vision analyzes the hierarchy and uses the top-level setting.
When to Use this Option
You may want to use this option if your firm's employees perform work on multiple projects, each located in a different state or tax locale.
How Vision Works With this Option
When processing payroll, Vision calculates and tracks withholdings for all employees based on the state or tax locale entered in the
Payroll Tax Locale field of the posted timesheet.
By default this field is populated with the locale entered in the
Payroll Tax Locale field on the Accounting tab of the Project Info Center. If the project record does not have a locale specified, Vision uses the locale entered as the
Default Project Tax Locale on the Payroll tab of the Employee Info Center as the timesheet default.
An employee can override a default, by selecting a different locale in the timesheet's
Payroll Tax Locale field.
If a default is set in the Project Info Center, but an employee does not have a withholding code set up for this project's locale, Vision uses the
Default Project Tax Locale from the Employee Info Center record as the timesheet default.
