Info Center Security
Your system administrator sets up security access rights to the Info Center record types based on your role. Your role's access rights determine the Info Centers that you are allowed to access, the tabs that you can see, and the functions that you can perform.
Access to Info Centers
Your system administrator sets your role's access to the Info Centers on the General tab of Security Roles Configuration. You can have access to all Info Centers, or only to certain Info Centers, depending on your role. For example, a project manager may only have access to the Project Info Center.
Access to Tabs
Your system administrator uses the Access Rights tab of Security Roles Configuration to specify which tabs are visible when you access each Info Center. For example, you may have access to the Employee Info Center, but not to tabs that contain personal or payroll information about employees. Tab-level security can apply to both standard and user-defined tabs in each Info Center.
Access to Records, by Type
Your system administrator uses the Record Access tab of Security Roles Configuration to set your role's ability to view, add, modify, and delete the record types to which you have access.
Your system administrator can also use the Record Access tab to restrict your access to individual records in each Info Center. For example, if you are a project manager, your system administrator can limit your access to only those project records for which you are the project manager.
Your system administrator can set the following access rights to Info Center records:
- Read Only — You can view records but cannot add new records, modify information, or delete records.
- Modify — You can view records and make modifications to information, but cannot add new records or delete records.
- Add/Modify — You can view records, modify information, and add new records, but cannot delete records.
- Full — You can view records, modify information, add new records, and delete records.
The fields that display also depend on your access rights.
