Configure the ABRA Interface
Before you can use the ABRA import or export utility, you must configure the ABRA server to work with Vision.
Prerequisites: If the ABRA and Vision servers are the same domain, you need to complete some steps before you complete this procedure. See Create a Domain User Account and Set the COM+ Identity.
To configure the ABRA interface, complete the following steps:
- If you are running a Novell network and the servers are members of a workgroup, create a local user on the ABRA server with the same name and password of the user that is the COM+ Identity on the Vision Web/Application server.
- Log on to the ABRA server.
- Share the ABRA data folder on the server.
- In Share Permissions, set the user account running the Vision COM+ Application (for example, Identity) to have Full Control access to the share.
- Remove the Everyone group from the list of groups with permissions to the folder.
-
Create an ODBC System DSN on the Vision Web/Application Server, using the following steps (these steps are for FoxPro; select the appropriate options for SQL if that is the version of ABRA that you are using):
-
Click Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC).
-
Click the System DSN tab.
-
Click Add and select Microsoft Visual FoxPro Driver from the list. (For the SQL version, select SQL Server from the list and then select the ABRA database).
-
Click Finish. The ODBC Visual FoxPro Setup dialog box opens.
-
In the Data Source Name field, enter VisionABRA.
-
Select the Free Table directory option.
-
In the Path field, enter the UNC path; for example, \\<abraserver>\<sharename>.
-
Click OK.
