Basing Plans on Projects Imported from Other Sources

Some projects that serve as the basis for a plan may have originally been imported into Vision. If the imported project has more than three project levels, Vision imports the project's entire structure as individual projects. The project and sub-project relationships are determined by assigned project numbers.

When you create a new plan from a project that contains user defined tabs, grids, fields, or mappings, these fields are automatically copied into the plan.

Example of Plan With More Than Three Project Levels

Original project structure with multiple levels:	Vision creates numbering scheme and changes to:
Item 1	12345
Item 1.1	12345A
Item 1.1.1	12345A-01
Item 1.1.1.1	12345A-01.0A
Item 1.1.1.1.1	12345A-01.0A1
Item 1.1.1.2	12345A-01.0B

When Vision rolls up and totals actual labor, expense, and consultant numbers for the project, it does so at the parent level.

For example: items 12345A-01.0A, 12345A-01.0A1, 12345A-01.0B will be summed up in 12345A-01 because they all are prefixed with 12345-01.
