Custom Columns for General Ledger Reports
You can include up to 13 custom columns on the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Profit Planning Monitor reports.
Balance Sheet
For the Balance Sheet, use custom amount columns to show account activity for any period or range of periods.
Income Statement
For the Income Statement, use custom amount and percentage columns to show account activity for any period or range of periods.
The custom amount columns display the amount of account activity during the periods you specify.
The custom percentage columns display the percentage represented by the amount in the corresponding custom amount column. The percentage depends on your selection in % of on the General tab of the Options dialog box. The column shows the ratio of the account’s amount for the period range to your firm’s total revenue, revenue less reimbursables, total expenses, total operating expenses, or direct labor for the period range.
If you show both a custom amount column and the corresponding custom percentage column, specify the same range of accounting periods for both. For example, if Custom Amount 01 displays account activity for the first quarter of the current year, Custom Percentage 01 must also represent the first quarter of the current year. However, you can add a custom amount column to the report but not the corresponding percentage column, or you can add a custom percentage column without adding the custom amount column.
Profit Planning Monitor
For the Profit Planning Monitor, use custom columns of the following types to show account activity, budgets, and budget variances for any period or range of periods:
-
The custom amount columns display the amount of account activity during the periods you specify.
-
The custom budget columns display the budgets for the periods you specify.
-
The custom budget variance columns display the difference between the corresponding custom amount and custom budget amount.
-
The custom budget variance percentage columns display the result of dividing the corresponding custom budget variance by the custom budget.
If you display more than one of these types of columns, specify the same range of accounting periods for each of the columns in a set. For example, if you add Custom Amount 01 and Custom Budget 01 to the report, and if Custom Amount 01 displays account activity for the first quarter of the current year, you must set up Custom Budget 01 to display the budgets for the first quarter of the current year. However, you do not need to display all four columns on the report. You can select any combination of the columns.

When you select a custom column for any of these reports, you also specify the following in the grid on the Columns tab:
