Edit a Document

You check out a document from the DMS to edit it. When you check a document out, the file is locked to prevent other users from editing it.

You must have write access on the document that you want to edit.

To edit a document:

  1. On the header bar, click Information Zone.
    If Smart View is not enabled, click the Smart View toggle to enable it.
  2. Search for the document.

  3. In the Checkout column, click for the document that you want to edit.
    If you are using Internet Explorer, the document opens in its associated application. For all other browsers, you are prompted to save the document to your PC. After you save the document, you can then open it to edit it.
    Note: If the document is a project DLM document, you must edit the document through the project's DLM.
  4. Edit the document, as required, and then save it.
