Add a Network Folder as an Unmanaged Source

To map network folders to projects, you first add the folders as unmanaged sources using the UFM Service Manager application on your nominated universal file management server.

To add a network folder as an unmanaged source:

  1. Log in to the designated universal file management server using the prime indexing user account that you set up.
The prime indexing user is a domain user account which the UFM service runs as. This is usually a local admin with enough permissions to access only the files that you want to make available in PIM. Any files this domain user account does not have access to cannot be indexed by PIM.
  2. Run the UFM Service Manager application from the desktop.
  3. In the Configure Unmanaged Sources window, use the Name field to enter a descriptive name for the share.
  4. In the Path field, enter or paste the UNC path of the network folder that contains documents that you want to map to a project in PIM.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 to add additional network folders.
  7. Click Save.
