Add Files to Placeholders
When you receive controlled project files, you can add them to document placeholders within DLM for the project. This allows you to control and manage those documents, and issue them to selected recipients. You can add files from your PC, and files already published to the DMS, such as file attachments published through the PIM Outlook add-in.
When you add a file to the DLM, the system attempts to match the file name with an existing document placeholder name. If the file rendition already exists in the document placeholder, the new file supersedes the existing version. In most cases, you are advised to change the revision to enable the comparison between revisions. When you supersede a document that has been shared externally then you are required to change the revision in order to maintain proper records, and to avoid errors. If a matching document placeholder is not found, you are prompted to create it.
