- Example: Submittal
Submittals provide a method to perform checks and balances during the construction phase of a project. This ensures that the end result conforms to the intended project design, and meets the expectations of the owner. - Example: Request for Information (RFI)
Requests for Information are typically used by contractors to clarify information in the contract documentation, or to provide information that was not complete at the time the contract was agreed. Subcontractors can also raise RFIs to recommend alternative products to replace products that do not meet the building owner's requirements. - Example: Change Order (CO)
Change orders (sometimes referred to as variations or variation orders) are used to request modifications or changes to the scope of work, planning, and specification in a construction project. Variations may give rise to additions or deductions from the contract sum, and adjustments to the completion date.
