User Access to Business Development Reports

Security for the Business Development reports is established in Vision Configuration. However, that access is not based on the access given to Vision reports. Instead, access to the Business Development reports is based on a user's access to the corresponding Info Center. For example, a user's access to the Opportunities report depends primarily on the access his or her security role has to the Opportunity Info Center in Vision.

Users with security roles that have no access to the Opportunity Info Center in Vision cannot display the Opportunities report in the Reporting area of the Business Development workspace. (They also do not have access to the Opportunities area or the Dashboard area.)

Users with security roles that have no access to the Contact Info Center in Vision cannot display the Contacts report in the Reporting area of the Business Development workspace. (They also do not have access to the Contacts area.)

Users with security roles that have no access to either the Client Info Center or Vendor Info Center in Vision cannot display the Companies report in the Reporting area of the Business Development workspace. (They also do not have access to the Companies area.) If they have access to only one of these Info Centers (the Client Info Center, for example, but not the Vendor Info Center), they have access to the Companies area and the Companies report, but they can only display records for the Info Center to which they have access (in our example, records from the Client Info Center).

Access to columns on a Business Development report is the same as that user's access to fields in the corresponding Business Development area. For example, if a user does not have access to estimated revenue in the Opportunities area, she also does not have access to the REVENUE column on the Opportunities report. And both field access and report column access are based are controlled by the access defined in Vision for security roles and by Screen Designer properties established for the grids and fields. Group and column access for reports defined in Vision Configuration do not apply to Business Development reports.

Access to columns related to milestones and touchpoints on Business Development reports is controlled by security role access to the Activities tabs in Vision and by Screen Designer properties established for the grids and fields on those tabs.

Record-level security established for a security role on the Record Access tab of the Roles form in Vision is honored by the Business Development reports.
