Add Labor Resources to a Plan

If your Vision Security role allows access, you can add active resources to the current iAccess plan.

Your Vision Security role must have Full, Add/Modify, or Modify Only record access rights to Vision Project Planning.

To add resources to a project plan, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Project Management workspace, select the project for which you want to add resources.
  2. Click the Planning tab.
  3. If the Labor page is not displayed, click the name of the currently displayed page, and click Labor on the drop-down list.
  4. Click Check Out on the Planning toolbar.
  5. In the Labor Planning grid, open the WBS element for which you want to add a resource.
  6. Click + Add Resource. The Add Resources dialog box displays, listing the active resources who match these requirements:
    • The employees your role allows access to if the Apply Employee Record Access option is selected on the Planning tab of the Roles form in Vision. If you don't have the Vision Resource Planning module, the option is on the iAccess tab instead.
    • The resources in your home organization, if your firm uses organizations in Vision.
    • The resources who are not already included in the current Work Breakdown Structure.
  7. Use these options to refine the Resources list.
    Option Description
Search To find and select resources, enter any part of the following in the search field: employee first or last name, employee number, generic resource name, generic resource number, or organization name. To view a full list of all resources, clear the entry in the search field.
SHOW EMPLOYEES Select this check box to include active employees on the results list. The list of resources updates accordingly. Any employee who is already assigned to the WBS element is excluded because an employee can only be assigned to a WBS element once.
SHOW GENERIC RESOURCES Select this check box to include generic resources on the results list. The list of resources updates accordingly. Any generic resource that is already assigned to the WBS element is excluded because a generic resource can only be assigned to a WBS element once.
SHOW If you use organizations in Vision, use this drop-down list to specify the organizations included when you search for resources. To include all Vision organizations, select All Organizations. To show only resources belonging to your organization, select My Organization.
  8. Select one or more resources from the list by clicking or tapping them.

Note that you can generate a list of resources, make selections in that list, and then generate another list (using different search characters in the search field, for example), and make additional selections without losing your initial selections. When you click Add, all of those selected resources are added. However, if you change the option in SHOW, any selections you made before that are discarded.

  9. After you select the resources you want to add, click Add to close the dialog box and add the resources to the Resource Assignments grid.
  10. If the calendar view is not displayed, switch to calendar view and enter planned hours for the resources you added.
  11. Click on the Planning toolbar to save the additions to the plan.
