Multiple Languages
Vantagepoint supports several languages. Forms, dialog boxes, alerts, info bubbles, and reports display information in the language that you select when you log in to Vantagepoint.
If your company has some users that use one language and others that use a different language, users can select the language that they prefer when they log in. Multiple languages are automatically available when you start the product activation and setup processes.
There are two ways to select the language used in the Vantagepoint application.
- A Language drop-down list displays on the Vantagepoint Startup screen.
- If you are using the Vantagepoint on-premises product, you can select a default language using the Weblink Utility. The System Settings tab of the Weblink Utility includes a Default Languages grid that lists all of the enabled languages in all databases in Vantagepoint.
Standard and Custom Field Labels and Lists
When you select a language, only the standard Vantagepoint field labels or lists are translated and display in that language. If you use custom labels or lists, you must change each custom label or list to match the selected language.
For example, assume that you add a user-defined Sales Rep field to the Overview tab of the Contacts hub while using English. When you change the Vantagepoint database language from English to Spanish, you can then translate the Sales Rep field label to Representante to reflect the selected language.
The Translation Analysis report in
displays all user-definable labels, grouped by area (for example, System Labels and User Defined Tabs). The title, headings, and date are in the language of the user currently who runs the analysis. You can export this report to Excel, so that it can be sent to a translation company or another person for translation purposes.
Languages and Billing
You can create invoice templates for any of the languages that Vantagepoint supports. You can then generate invoices in that language at any time without being logged into Vantagepoint for that language.
To create an invoice template for generating invoices in a specific language:
- Log in to the Vantagepoint desktop application and when you are asked to select the language for the session, select the language in which you want to generate invoices.
- Create the invoice template in . Vantagepoint saves the language for your current session as part of the template.
- Assign the invoice template to the appropriate projects through their billing terms in the Vantagepoint browser application.
You can then generate invoices in that language regardless of the active language for your current Vantagepoint session.
Languages in Workflows and Alerts
When you set up workflows in Languages field that allows the System Administrator to enter a custom message for the related action. This field is available for Email Alerts, Notification Alerts, Validate Errors, and Validate Warnings.
, the Actions grid includes aThe message displays to employees who have that language selected in the Language field on the Overview tab of the Employees hub.
For example, if the System Administrator creates an email alert for English US and English UK, then only employees who have English US or English UK selected in the Language field on the Overview tab of the Employees hub receive that message. The System Administrator must set up a separate alert for employees who have Spanish selected in their Language field if they are to receive an email message in Spanish.
