Roadmap for Creating a Master Element

A master element is a set of proposal elements that you group and save for reuse. You can create a master element from scratch or by saving a group of elements from an existing proposal. Master elements help you quickly create consistent proposals. Use this roadmap as a quick summary of the steps for creating a new master element.

Create a Master Element
1 There are three methods for creating a master element:
  • From scratch: Create and save elements by clicking Proposals > Templates and then clicking + Add Master Element. Continue to Step 2 of this roadmap.
  • From an existing master element: If a new master element is similar to an existing element, open Proposals > Templates and click Options > Copy at the end of the master element's grid row. You can then edit and save the copied element to create a new master element.
  • From a proposal: After you build a proposal in Proposals > Custom Proposals, select the elements that you want to add to a master element and click Save as Master.

2 On the Add Master Element or Copy Master Element dialog box, define the following for the new master element:
  • Name: Enter a unique name for the master element.
  • Category: Select a category for the master element. The categories allow you to organize the elements by function. You can search the elements by category and they are defined by your system administrator. The same categories are used for both Master Elements and Proposal Templates.
  • Description: Enter a description for the master element. This may include the type of proposal in which the element is used, or other information that makes the element easily identifiable on the Master Elements dialog box.

5 Drag the Master Element onto the proposal. The Master Elements dialog box displays, listing the Name, Description, and Category of each master element that is saved.

From the list, select the master element that you want to add to the template or proposal and click Select. If the master element's page properties are different than the page that you drag it onto, you are prompted to either keep the existing page properties or to use the page properties saved with the master element.
