Metrics Form

Use this form to add, edit, or view schedule-related metrics.

If you make changes to the metrics, or metric libraries, and click Save, the changes are saved to the current workbook. If you want the changes to be included in future workbooks, you must set the Include in New Workbook option on the form.

Field Description
Metrics Pane This pane displays the available metrics, grouped into metric libraries.
Name Use this field to enter or edit the metric name.
Id Use this field to enter an ID for the selected metric. The ID is included on the Metric Summary Report for traceability purposes. The DCMA metrics that ship with Acumen include the DCMA Unique Metric ID.
Version This field displays the metric version. The version is incremented when any of the following types of data are changed:
  • Inclusions on any tab
  • Filters on any tab
  • Formulas on any tab
  • Tripwire thresholds

If you import a metric with an older version number, Acumen displays a warning.

Description Use this field to enter or edit the metric description. When you are on the S2 // Diagnostics tab, you can use your mouse to hover over a metric and view this description in the tool tip.
Remarks Use this field to add any additional information about the metric.
Metric Type

The Acumen Diagnostic Executive Briefing report uses this setting to identify what a metric refers to. The report contains a per-ribbon analysis that specifies each one of the metrics on a Ribbon view. This setting determines the way the data displays on the report for each metric.

Select one of the following metric types:
  • Activity Count — This setting indicates that the metric result is a count of occurrences in activities. An example of what this looks like in the Executive Briefing report is: "11 activities (21%) have Missing Logic. Less than 25% exceptions. Some improvements may be required."
  • Activity Attribute — This setting indicates that the metric result is an activity attribute. An example of what this looks like in the Executive Briefing report is: "25 activities (47%) are Critical."
  • Ribbon Count— This setting indicates that the metric result is a count of occurrences in a ribbon. An example of what this looks like in the Executive Briefing report is: "This ribbon has 44 FS Predecessors (83%). More than 75% of activity links are Finish > Start. This is the target state."
  • Ribbon Attribute — This setting indicates that the metric result is a ribbon attribute. An example of what this looks like in the Executive Briefing report is: "This ribbon has a Logic Density of 2.19. There are between two and four links per activity."

Applies to <analyzer> By default, each metric is available in all three analyzers (Ribbon, Phase, Intersection). Metrics can be excluded from a particular analysis if, for example, the context is not valid.
  • Applies to Ribbons applies the metric to ribbons.
  • Applies to Phases applies the metric to phases.
  • Applies to Intersections applies the metric to intersections.
Include in new Workbook Select this check box to include this metric in all new workbooks.

To include/exclude an entire metric library, right-click on the library folder in the Library Pane and click Settings > Include in New Workbook (the Include in New Workbook option has a blue checkmark next to it when selected.)

Publish Metric Select this check box to include this metric in the Fuse Summary Metric report and the wInsight Analytics export which you can access on the S2 // Diagnostics tab (Publish > Fuse Summary Metric Report).

To include or to exclude an entire metric library, right-click on the library folder in the Library Pane and click Settings > Publish Metric (the Publish Metric option has a blue checkmark next to it when selected.)
