Run Risk Analysis with Mitigation and Create a Comparison Chart

After you have created risk mitigation steps and assigned risks to activities, the next step is to create the comparison chart to view the mitigation scenarios. You do this by running risk analysis with mitigation.

To create a Risk Exposure Comparison chart that displays mitigation steps, complete the following steps:

  1. On the S3 // Risk tab, click Views > Left Panel > Risk Register.
  2. In the Risk Register grid, select the risk event that you want to use for the analysis.
  3. On the Mitigation Steps tab, select the steps for which you want to run the analysis, for example, select all steps for the first analysis.
You cannot skip steps. For example, you cannot run step 1 and step 3 but skip step 2. If you deselect step 2, then all steps following step 2 are automatically deselected.
  4. In the Analysis group, click the Run Risk Analysis down-arrow and select one of the following options:
    OptionDescription
Uncertainty and Risk Events (Mitigated, Excluding Overhead) Select this option if you do not want to include the cost/schedule effort required for the mitigation.
Uncertainty and Risk Events (Mitigated, Including Overhead) Select this option if you want to include the cost/schedule effort required for the mitigation. In order for this to be included, you must have added the Duration and/or Cost data to the Mitigation Steps tab.
  5. Click Analysis > Run Risk Analysis
  6. After the analysis is complete, click Risk Exposure > Add to Risk Comparison.
  7. Repeat steps 3 through 6, selecting different mitigation step options in step 3 until all desired scenarios have been run.
  8. Click Views > Right Panel > Risk Exposure Comparison to display the Risk Exposure Comparisons chart.
