Creating Plans in Vision Navigator Overview
In Vision Navigator, you can create a new plan or convert an existing Vision plan into a Navigator plan. When you publish a plan to Vision, both Navigator and Vision have the same plan information.
- Create a New Plan in Vision Navigator
If a project does not have an existing plan in Vision Project Planning, you can use Navigator to create the project plan. - Check a Plan's State
Vision Navigator plans include indicators that change color to reflect the plan's status. - Shift Calendar Dates
As plans evolve, you can shift planning dates on the Labor Planning grid work breakdown structure rows. When you shift calendar dates, your plans remain accurate and up-to-date over the course of the project life cycle. - Recalculate Planned Cost and/or Billing Amounts
When you recalculate , Vision Navigator recalculates the planned cost and/or billing amounts for labor resources and planned billing amounts for consultants using the current rate selections in Plan Settings. Any planned values added to the plan later automatically use the current rate settings. - Change a Vision Plan to a Vision Navigator Plan
When you are also using the Vision Resource Planning module, you can convert a plan that was originally created in Vision to a Vision Navigator plan. This simplifies data entry, but requires that all subsequent plan updates be made in Navigator. You can then save and publish the plan back to Vision. After you publish, data synchronizes between the two applications and both display the same plan information. - Plan State Indicators
The Actions button on the Planning tab acts as the indicator for the state of plans displayed in Navigator. Refer to the indicator and associated plan text to determine the current state of the plan. As you update the plan, the indicator and text change color and the text updates to reflect the state. For example, indicates that the Navigator plan is saved but not yet published. When the plan is published, the indicator changes to
green and the text updates to reflect the state.
- Planning Command Bar
The Command Bar allows you to perform various functions when working with the Navigator plan. For example, you can save the plan, publish data, or revert your changes back to the plan's original state. This bar displays at certain times when you click the Actions button (for example, when you are saving the plan's baseline). Your access to these functions is based on your assigned role's access rights on the Planning tab and Navigator tab in Vision > Security > Roles. If you don't have the Vision Resource Planning module, then your access is based on your assigned role's access rights on the Navigator tab.
