Profit Chart

The Profit bar chart on the Projects tab displays project profit by period for the current fiscal year.

Profit Calculation

Profit amounts are the sum of profit for revenue-level projects. Project profit is calculated as follows: Project revenue - All project direct and indirect costs.

Period and YTD Options

If you select the Period option, each bar in the chart represents the profit for that period.

If you select the YTD option, each bar represents the year-to-date profit as of the end of that period.

Position the mouse pointer over a bar to display the actual profit amount in a tooltip.

Current and Prior Amounts

The current profit amount and the prior profit amount display above the chart.
  • If you select the Period option, the current amount is the profit for the latest period in the current fiscal year, and the prior amount is the profit for the previous period in the current fiscal year.
  • If you select the YTD option, the current amount is the YTD profit as of the end of the latest period in the current fiscal year, and the prior amount is the YTD profit as of the end of the same period in the prior fiscal year.

Filters Options

Use the filter lists on the left side of the dashboard to focus the chart on...
  • Profit for a specific company (if your firm has multiple companies in Costpoint)
  • Profit associated with one or more specific organization codes. Use the icon at the top of the Org filter list to display organization codes for all levels of the organization structure or only the organization codes for a specific level.
