Contents of the Project Workspace Action Bar
Use the contents of this action bar to view project information and manage a project in the project workspace.
Main Options
On this action bar, the following options are available:
Option | Description |
---|---|
Project Parameters | Click View to display the Project Parameters window and view parameters such as the project's building type and construction type. |
Product Selection | Click View Products to view product listings in the Product Listings window (project level) and browse products for your A/E firm's project. |
Selected Products | This displays the number of products that the project team selected for the project. |
Added to Project | This displays the number of project elements that the project team added to the project. This icon displays in green if you filtered the project elements in the
Project Elements pane by
Added to Project (in either format) or by
Added to Work Results.
Click the checklist icon to toggle between showing only the elements that are active in the project or showing all available project elements (including those that you have already added). The selections in the Categories pane and the entries on element search bar filter the project elements in the Project Elements pane regardless if you enable the added to project filter. |
Notes | Click View to view and manage project notes in the Notes window. |
Settings Icon | Click to display the Project Settings window and configure the various general settings for the project, project elements, and element contents. |
Menu Icon | Click this button to show or hide the Show/Hide bar, which you can use to toggle the visibility of the various panes and tabs, such as the Categories pane and the Project Elements pane. |
Search Icon | Click this button to show or hide the element search bar which you can use to search for a specific assembly, family, or product type element. |
Close or Show | Click this button to show or hide the options on the project workspace action bar. |
Show/Hide Bar
On the Show/Hide bar, the following options are available:

Categories | Click this option to show or hide the Categories pane. |
Project Elements | Click this option to show or hide the Project Elements pane. |
Element Search Bar Contents
On the element search bar, the following options are available:
Option | Description |

Search Field | Enter the terms to search for in the project element numbers or project element names of the
assemblies,
families, sections, and
product types. You can click
X to clear the search bar.
When you have this field selected, you can press ENTER to run the search. This field displays the category that you selected in the Categories pane. Specpoint searches only for project elements that belong under the selected category. When you select a new category, all search bar options return to each option's default or blank state. |
Search Icon | Click this button to search for project elements based on your entered search term in the search field and selected category.
The search results display in the Project Elements pane. |
UniFormat Filters | These filter options are available only when you filtered the Project Elements pane by
UniFormat or
assemblies

Quick Add Toolbar
On the quick add toolbar, the following options are available:

Add Selected Items to Project | Click this button to add the project elements that you selected for quick add to the project. |
Workspace Toolbar (Articles and Paragraphs)
For your selected article or paragraph on the element form, the following options are available:

Move Up | Click this button to move the active article or paragraph one position up. | ALT+SHIFT+UP |
Move Down | Click this button to move the active article or paragraph one position down. | ALT+SHIFT+DOWN |
Demote | Click this button to demote the paragraph to a subparagraph of the paragraph that precedes it on the same paragraph level. | TAB |
Promote | Click this button to promote the paragraph to a sibling of its current parent paragraph. | SHIFT+TAB |
These options are available only to administrators and authors.
Workspace Toolbar (Elements)
For your selected project element on the Project Elements pane, the following options are available:
Option | Description | Shortcut |

Project Element Name | This displays the selected element's name and code.
In addition, this displays the project element type below the element name, such as assembly, division, family, section, or product type. |

Note/s | This indicates the number of
project notes for project element.
Click this link to display the notes in the Notes window. |

Insert drawing designation | This field is available only for
product type elements.
Enter an annotation pertaining to a respective portion in your A/E firm's drawing that corresponds to the selected product type. This enables you to link and coordinate your A/E firm's drawings and your project specifications. You can use this drawing designation for reference in the workspace. The drawing designation also displays in the product type line in the section preview and exported project files. |

Supporting Documents | Click this button to open the available supporting documents for the family, section, or product type. These documents provide professionals at any level with guidance, research, and coordination checklists to help them develop project information more effectively. | CTRL+I |
Export | This option is available only for elements that are currently in the project.
Click this button to export the project section in which the family, section, or product type belongs, as a PDF file and a DOCX file. |

Preview | This option is available only for elements that are currently in the project.
Click this button to open the Section Preview window and view how the family's, section's, or product type's specified articles and paragraphs display in a traditional section view or in a project output. |
CTRL+ALT+I |
Copy Product Type | This option is available only for
product types that are currently in the project.
Click this button to create a copy of the product type as a custom product type. |
CTRL+ALT+C |
Add to Project | This option is available only for elements that are currently not in the active project.
Click this button to add the selected element to the active project as an active project element. |

Remove from Project | This option is available only for elements that are currently in the project.
Click this button to remove the selected element from the active project. |
Aside from the Project Element Name, these options are available only to administrators and authors.
