Product Listings Window at the Project Level

For your active project in the project workspace, use this window to browse, research, add, and manage product listings

This mode of the Product Listings window is available only when you open this window from the project workspace. This window enables you to work with the available product listings in Specpoint based on your active project and selected assembly, family, section, and product type elements. The available actions that you can perform and the special mechanics that this window follows depend on your selections from the origin project workspace, which is from where you opened the Product Listings window.

Only this window mode allows you to add product listings to your project. At the project level, the available product listing cards contain options for adding these products to your project as recommended, basis-of-design (BOD), and comparable products.

Window Mechanics

At the project level, the Product Listings window takes into account the actions that you perform within and outside this window. The following table shows the mechanics and behaviors of this window to enable you to correctly select product listings for a project:

Behavior Description
Project Assignment When you open a Product Listings window, Specpoint assigns this window session to the active project in its origin project workspace. Product selections that you make in this window register to the active project of its origin project workspace regardless of the following:
  • You close the tab or browser in which the origin project workspace is open.
  • You navigate to another page from the browser tab on which the origin project workspace is open.
Multiple Windows You can open multiple Product Listings windows from multiple project workspaces with different active projects on different browser tabs. Specpoint assigns each window session to its respective active project in its respective origin project workspace. This also applies when you open multiple projects by navigating in and out of the project workspace. Product selections that you make in each window register only to its respective active project based on its respective origin project workspace.
Filtering by Category The Products tab, Related Products tab, and Related Products banner display product listings based on the selected project category in its origin project workspace. When the Product Listings window is open and you select another category in its origin project workspace, Specpoint updates the list of available product listings in this window.

For more information, see Categories Pane.

This filtering also applies to some filter fields in this window.

Filtering by Assembly, Family, Section, and Product Type The Products tab displays product listings based on the selected assembly, family, section, and/or product type in its origin project workspace. When the Product Listings window is open and you select another element in its origin project workspace, Specpoint updates the list of available product listings in this window.

For more information, see Project Elements Pane.

The Related Products tab filters listings based on the category of the selected assembly, family, section, or product type.

This filtering also applies to some filter fields in this window. To deactivate this filter, select the All Products option. To activate this filter, select the Element Path option.

Filtering by Product Type Property The Products tab displays product listings based on the selected options from the option sets of product type properties in its origin workspace. When you meet the following conditions, Specpoint updates the list of available product listings in this window:
  • The Product Listings window is open.
  • You have an active family, section, or product type selected in its origin workspace.
  • You selected an option from an option set of a product type property in the family, section, or product type.

For more information, see Option Set and Product Type Property.

Filtering by Manufacturer Paragraph or BOD Product Paragraph The Products tab displays a single product listing based on the selected manufacturer/product listing from the option set of a manufacturer paragraph in its origin workspace. When you meet the following conditions, Specpoint updates the available product listing in this window:
  • The Product Listings window is open.
  • You have an active product type element selected in its origin workspace.
  • You selected a manufacturer/product listing from an option set of a manufacturer paragraph in the product type element.

The same filtering behavior applies for the BOD product paragraphs.

For more information, see Manufacturer Paragraph and BOD Product Paragraph.

Filtering by Manufacturer Options When you add a product listing that includes manufacturer options, the Product Listings window displays only product listings that include manufacturer options. This filtering applies as long as a product listing with manufacturer options is added to the project for the product type.

For more information, see Manufacturer Options.
