Manufacturer Paragraph

In product type elements, use this paragraph to select a specific manufacturer or product listing and fulfill a product type requirement in your A/E firm's project specifications.

A manufacturer paragraph lists, in its option set, all manufacturers for a given product type. These included manufacturers offer a product listing with a product type that matches the product type element. Use the option set to select manufacturers or added product listings to use as recommended or required products.

To base your product type requirement on a manufacturer or product listing outside Specpoint, you can use one of the paragraph's available text fields to manually enter the name of the custom manufacturer or product listing.

Each article in each product type can only have either a manufacturer paragraph or a BOD product paragraph. When you activate the manufacturer paragraph, Specpoint inactivates the BOD product paragraph, and vice versa.

Product Listing Addition and Removal

When you select a manufacturer from an option set of a manufacturer paragraph, Specpoint also adds the associated product listing to your project. If you select both an active product type element and a manufacturer from the manufacturer paragraph, the Product Listings window displays only the associated product listing.

In the Product Listings window, when you add a manufacturer listing to your project, Specpoint automatically selects the respective option for the manufacturer listing from the option set of the associated manufacturer paragraph in the associated product type element. Similarly, when you select a premium MasterSpec listing, premium proprietary listing, or premium listing, Specpoint adds an option for the premium listing to the option set and selects it. The added premium listing option in the manufacturer paragraph is in the following format:

<Name of the manufacturer that offers the added premium listing>:<Name of the added premium listing>

When you remove a product listing, Specpoint automatically clears your selected options from the option set of the associated manufacturer paragraph. For premium MasterSpec, premium proprietary, and premium listings, Specpoint also removes the added premium listing option from the option set.

Related Product Type Properties

When you select an option (manufacturer) in a manufacturer paragraph or Specpoint automatically adds and selects a premium listing, Specpoint updates all related product type properties within the product type and related families and sections. Specpoint automatically selects options from the option sets of the related product type properties based on the product properties of the selected manufacturer or listing. This feature enables you to automatically specify your product requirements based on a registered product listing in the platform.

For each of your custom manufacturer entries in the available text fields ([Insert Manufacturers Name]), you must select the appropriate options and/or enter the correct values for all of the related product type properties.

If you or other project team members already selected options in the workspace, Specpoint considers those selections when automatically searching the database for comparable products. However, Specpoint does not add in additional options when selecting a card.
