Addition of Project Elements

Use this reference to learn about the multiple rules that apply and the changes that Specpoint makes to related project elements when you add an element to your project.

Element Rules and Automated Changes
All
  • You can add only a project element that is not currently in the project.
  • Specpoint loads the element's performance requirements, articles, paragraphs, and/or project properties to the project. These properties and content items become available for modification.

Typically, you must modify each performance requirement or paragraph based on the needs of your project.

Assembly For subassembly groups or subassembly types, Specpoint automatically adds all assemblies that are directly above the added assembly.
Family Specpoint automatically adds all assemblies that are directly above the added family to the project if these are not already in the project.
Product Type
  • For product types that are not currently in the project, Specpoint adds the product type to the active project under the currently selected assemblies and family.
  • For product types that are currently in the project, Specpoint creates a new association between the product type and the new family.
  • Specpoint automatically adds the parent family and all assemblies that are directly above the added product type to the project if these are not already in the project.
Note: These rules and automated changes also apply to existing custom product types in your project.

Division You cannot directly add divisions to a project. The platform automatically adds a given division when you add a section or product type that is directly under the division.
Section Specpoint automatically adds the division that is directly above the added section to the project if the division is not already in the project.
