Respread Costs to learn how costs are respread when work package requested baseline dates are changed.
In general, when you first access Change Details, the requested dates for activities are calculated based on Time Now, and relationships using the Critical Path Method (CPM). The work packages are then updated to span the activities, and the control accounts are updated to span the work packages. After returning from a modeling session, the dates displayed are those that were calculated during the modeling session.
When in the Change Details view and looking at the grid portion, the column labeled "Requested Start” and “Requested Finish” are how the change request is going to change the baseline dates (for a budget change request) or the Forecast dates (for a forecast change request). The columns labeled “Baseline Start” and “Baseline Finish” are the existing dates.
Activity Dates
When you access the view, the requested dates in the grid are calculated based on the CPM.
The early and late dates displayed in the grid are the dates from the schedule project baseline.
The baseline dates displayed in the grid are the baseline dates from the schedule project baseline.
The requested baseline and forecast dates displayed on the General tab are the requested dates in the grid.
Work Package Dates
When the activity dates are updated, the work package dates are adjusted to span the activities.
If the work package is planned, the requested start date displayed in the grid is the minimum start date of all activities below the work package. If the work package is in progress or complete, the requested start date is the existing/current baseline start date.
If the work package is not complete, the requested finish date displayed in the grid is the maximum finish date of all activities below the work package; otherwise, the requested finish date is the existing/current baseline date.
The requested dates in the grid are the same as the requested baseline dates on the General tab and are stored in the baseline dates of the sandbox project. The early and late dates displayed in the grid are the dates from the cost sandbox project.
The baseline dates displayed in the grid are the dates from the live project.
The current dates (baseline and forecast) displayed on the General tab are the dates from the live project.
When you first access the Change Details view, and there are planned activities below the work package with dates before the beginning of the period, you will have to expand the work package node and display the activities for the work package dates to update. When this occurs, there is not an entry in the cost change log because the work package dates were "auto updated" based on the schedule calculation.
If you do not expand the work package to display the activities, and these activities are flagged with a Y or Yes in the PMC Update Baseline Dates field during the modeling session, the work package dates will be adjusted by the integration. When you access the Change Details view after the modeling session, it does not matter if you expand the work package node or not; the work packages will display dates based on the activities and the schedule integration. Since the work package dates were changed based on the schedule integration, there will not be a record in the cost change log showing the work package date has changed. Instead, there will be mention of the work package date change in the schedule integration process log found on the Links tab.
Control Account Dates
If the control account is planned, the requested start date displayed in the grid is the minimum start date of all the work packages below the control account; otherwise, the requested start date is the existing baseline start date.
If the control account is not complete, the requested finish date displayed in the grid is the maximum finish date of all the work packages below the control account; otherwise, the requested finish date is the existing baseline date.
Activity Dates
After returning from a modeling session, the dates are not calculated. Instead, the dates displayed are those that were calculated during the modeling session.
The requested dates displayed in the grid are the baseline dates from the change baseline. If the activity is not in the change baseline, the requested dates displayed in the grid are the baseline dates from the schedule project baseline.
The requested forecast and baseline dates displayed on the General tab are the baseline dates from the change baseline, if the activity is in the change baseline; otherwise, the baseline dates displayed are from the schedule project baseline.
The early dates displayed in the grid are the early dates in the change baseline, if the activity is there; otherwise, the dates displayed are from the schedule project baseline.
The late dates displayed in the grid are the late dates in the change baseline, if the activity is there; otherwise, the dates displayed are from the schedule project baseline.
The baseline dates displayed in the grid are from the schedule project baseline.
The requested baseline and forecast dates displayed on the General tab are the requested dates in the Change Details view.
Work Package Dates and Control Account Dates
The work package and Control Account dates are calculated during the integration.
The requested dates displayed in the grid are the baseline dates from the cost sandbox project. Cobra’s integration was run on the sandbox project using the change baseline created during the modeling session.
The requested dates in the grid are the same as the requested baseline dates on the General tab. The baseline dates displayed in the grid are the dates from the live project.
The early and late displayed in the grid are the dates from the cost sandbox project.
The current dates (baseline and forecast) displayed on the General tab are the dates from the live project.
When there are no activities below, the work packages are manually changed.
Work Package Dates
The requested dates displayed in the grid are the dates from the cost sandbox project.
Requested Dates in a Budget Change Request
When you update the requested baseline dates on the General tab, the requested dates in the grid are updated, and vice versa.
When you update the requested baseline dates on the General tab or the requested dates in the grid, the baseline dates in sandbox project are updated.
Requested Dates in a Forecast Change Request
When you update the requested forecast dates on the General tab, the requested dates in the grid are updated, and vice versa.
When you update the requested forecast dates on the General tab or the requested dates in the grid, the forecast dates in sandbox project are updated.
The baseline dates displayed in the grid are the dates from the live project and are the same as the current baseline dates displayed on the General tab.
The early and late dates displayed in the grid are the dates from the cost sandbox project.
The current dates (baseline and forecast) displayed on the General tab are the dates from the live project.
Control Account Dates
When a work package is updated, the control account dates are updated to span the work packages.
The requested start date displayed in the grid is the minimum start date of all the work packages below the control account, if the control account is planned; otherwise, the requested start date is the existing requested date.
The requested finish date displayed in the grid is the maximum finish date of all the work packages below the control account, if the control account is not complete; otherwise, the requested finish date is the existing requested date.
